Have you started your holiday baking yet? We've been doing a little here and there and have a little stash of goodies in the freezer already. They're so handy to have when folks drop by during the holidays and what a treat to enjoy while opening presents and spending time with family & friends.
We have our favorites that we make every year, and the recipe cards are worn and splattered from use. We can't seem to part with these old cards though...they hold so many warm memories, don't they? Whether you're finished already or just getting started this weekend, we'd love to hear about YOUR Christmas cookies & candy.
So tell us...
What are your favorite CHRISTMAS COOKIES & CANDY?
Share 'em all in today's Recipe Round-Up!
This recipe was published in our cookbook, Christmas Cookie Jar, and is a longtime favorite...these little gems won't last long on your cookie tray!
Pastel Cream Wafers
This is a recipe that's been passed around the office for years...it always tops our must-bake list!
2 c. all-purpose flour
1-1/2 c. butter, divided
1/3 c. whipping cream
2 c. sugar
2-1/3 c. powdered sugar
1 t. vanilla extract
several drops of red and green food coloring
Combine flour, one cup butter and cream; mix well. Chill for one hour. Roll out dough to 1/8-inch thick; cut out cookies with a 1-1/2 inch round cookie cutter. Carefully dip both sides of cookies into sugar; place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Pierce cookies lightly across top with a fork. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 to 9 minutes. Cool completely.
For the filling, beat remaining butter for 30 seconds; gradually beat in powdered sugar, vanilla and food coloring. Sandwich cookies in pairs with frosting. Makes about 5 dozen.

It seems like no matter what other traditions your holiday celebrations include, one that we all share is Christmas cookies!
This Menu of the Week comes from our cookbook, Christmas Cookie Jar, and while we don't recommend making a meal of these recipes, they are sure to add a sweet touch to your get-togethers this Christmas.
(Although you COULD eat cookies for dinner...we won't tell! You are a grown-up and that's one of the perks.)
No matter whether you're baking for your family, a cookie swap at church or just the jolly old elf stopping by, you'll find a recipe in Christmas Cookie Jar that you'll be happy to share. Not just for the holidays either, the recipes in this cookbook will make you the hero of the next bake sale!
As always, when you follow us on Twitter, you'll get an additional recipe EVERY DAY of the week. Want to see more? Visit our Recipe Collection and find lots more from Christmas Cookie Jar there!

She writes, "We were SO excited!"
Here's Tammy Bish with some cousins making Christmas cookies!
She writes, "We always had THE best time together and still
love to get together as adults...and, yes, we STILL belly laugh together
just like this!"
Linda Frank shared this photo of herself with Jolly Old St. Nick.
She writes, "My
dad was stationed in Germany. This was about 1956. We went to the

good then when I was little. I enjoy remembering the Christmases we
spent there."
Melissa Meyer and her grandma in 2008.
She writes, "She had a book a family member had
given her that asked all sorts of questions about her life from
childhood to adulthood. She gave the book to me and asked me to create a

the questions and her answers, scanned photos, and bound the books
together. Everyone was delighted to get a look into her life to keep for
all time!"
Patty Hall shared this sweet photo of Santa's Little Helpers!
She writes, "In
2007 we were blessed to have all three of our grown children, their
spouses, and all five of our grandchildren home for Christmas. What
special memories were made that year!"

Whether it's your world famous fudge or a special seasoning blend that everyone requests, the gifts that come from our kitchens are some of the best and most thoughtful ways to remember special folks at this time of year. We're already thinking about what we'll make this year...how about you?
We'd love to know...

Share 'em all in today's Recipe Round-Up!
This recipe was published in our cookbook, 101 Christmas Recipes, and Paula (below) is right...once you start snacking on these, you won't want to stop!
Spiced Christmas Cashews
Paula Marchesi from Lenhartsville, Pennsylvania shared this recipe with us. She writes, "Sweet, salty, crunchy and oh-so snackable! Everybody raves about them. I often make 10 to 12 batches for holiday gifts...maybe more!"
1 egg white
1 T. water
2 9-3/4 oz. cans salted cashews
1/3 c. sugar
1 T. chili powder
2 t. salt
2 t. ground cumin
1/2 t. cayenne pepper
Whisk together egg white and water in a large bowl. Add cashews; toss to coat. Transfer to a colander; drain for 2 minutes. In a separate bowl, combine sugar and spices; add cashews and toss to coat. Arrange in a single layer on a greased 15"x10" jelly-roll pan. Bake at 250 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes, stirring once. Cool on a wire rack. Store in an airtight container. Makes about 3-1/2 cups.

Love to shop locally? Keep an eye out for our monthly Store Spotlights, where we feature a shop that carries Gooseberry Patch cookbooks and more...find one in YOUR neighborhood with our handy Store Locator!
This month, we're featuring...
We asked the owner, Becky, to share a little bit about their store...
The Olde Farmstead began in November of 1998 when a dream for a country store became a reality. This family-owned store opened its first location in The Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek, Ohio. Since then, we have expanded to a total of three stores, with locations in Polaris Fashion Place in Columbus, Ohio and Tanger Outlets in Jeffersonville, Ohio.
We have a wide variety of product lines including: hand-poured candles, framed art, unique jewelry, scarves, clothing and gifts for children. We also carry linens, Williraye Studio, Bennington Pottery, Carson Pewter, decorative lighting, Ohio State gifts and décor, Stonewall Kitchen soaps and lotions, Gooseberry Patch, grapevine trees and seasonal items.
Our popular line of handcrafted furniture is made in Ohio, exclusively for us, and can be custom designed in many colors. We also have a website and offer a newsletter to connect with our customers. Visit us at www.theoldefarmstead.com and order online or through our stores.
How long have you been carrying Gooseberry Patch cookbooks & calendars?
We have carried Gooseberry Patch cookbooks since the very beginning in 1998. They have always been one of our strongest categories and best sellers.
This line is one of the very few that has stood the test of time…and remained strong through the past 13 years.
Our customers anxiously await the new titles, and our employees love getting the first peek when they come in!
Which titles are your customers' favorites lately?
The original hardbacks are still the best selling, but the full color cookbooks do very well also. 101 Autumn Recipes is one of our top sellers, and we were delighted to also use that as our free gift to our customers at our Holiday Open House in November!
Thanks to Becky and The Olde Farmstead for offering Gooseberry Patch cookbooks to your customers. We're glad to be part of the great selection at your store...keep up the great work!
If you're ever in the area, be sure to stop by
