Thanks for stopping by for another Featured Friday this week! We're really enjoying meeting some of our favorite bloggers...aren't you?
We couldn't agree more with the title of the post, but the name is not the only thing we love about this week's Featured Friday blogger...
Kim is the warm & heartfelt voice behind this great blog where she shares stories of her family & friends, decorating inspirations and more! On her companion baking site, you'll find lots of yummy recipes from her kitchen.
We asked Kim to share a little bit about herself...
Tell us a little about yourself and your family.
My family and I live in the country near the town of Ligonier, PA. I have always wanted to live in a farmhouse and that dream came true almost five years ago when my husband, daughter and I were given the opportunity to move into the home where my husband grew up. My husband and I were high school sweethearts and have been married for 20 years. We have one daughter who is 16, one inside kitty named Shadow and three barns cats named, Cali, Tink and Chewy.
What originally inspired you to start blogging?
The first blog that I discovered was Kim's Dear Daisy Cottage. I started reading it daily and was hooked. I knew then that I loved my home as much as Kim did and decided I wanted to try my hand at blogging. I've been blogging since 2006.
Of baking, decorating or blogging, what would you say your TRUE passion is...and how do you stay inspired?
I would have to say decorating. I absolutely love my home and want it to be a special place for my family and friends. I feel that you shouldn't have anything in your home that you don't absolutely love.
A lot of the things in my home belonged to family members so there are special memories attached to these treasures. My favorite room to decorate is my kitchen.
I came up with the name for my blog, because home is really where my heart is and will always be.
I stay inspired by visiting all of the wonderful blogs in blogland and with decorating magazines like Country Sampler and Country Living.
Since you also write your baking site with all those yummy recipes, we know you're a whiz in the kitchen too...care to share a favorite?
I'd like the share a recipe given to me by my Mother-In-Law, Daisy, who is a wonderful cook and baker.
Sausage Rice Bake1 lb. sausage 1/2 c. milk
3 c. hot cooked rice 10 1/4 oz. can cream
2 c. sharp Cheddar of mushroom soup
cheese, divided 2 t. spicy brown mustard
3 eggs, slightly beaten 1/4 t. onion powder
Cook sausage until well done. Crumble and drain; set aside. Combine rice and 1 1/2 cups cheese. Spread evenly into a greased 13"x9" baking dish. Sprinkle sausage over rice. Combine remaining ingredients except 1/2 cup of cheese. Pour mixture over sausage and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes or until set.
This dish is true comfort food.
Aside from family &friends, name 5 things that you just can't do without.
My Gooseberry Patch cookbooks, my camera, my label maker (I love to organize!), a piece of dark chocolate every day, and sweet tea. Oh and one extra...my Chalkink Markers!
Fill in the blank: In my kitchen, we're never short on ________!
Laughter...we always enjoy our time together.
Tell us something that no one would guess about you.
That I didn't know how to cook or bake when my husband and I were first married...I've come a long way since then.
You sure have, Kim...thanks for sharing your style, inspiration and recipes with us!
If you haven't clicked over to check out Kim's blog, now's the time...she's sure to have something special in store today!
