Say hello to Susan, the voice behind
Susie QT Pies Scraps of Life...
We're so pleased to have Susan of as our Featured Friday blogger this week! She's a homeschooling mom of three who somehow finds time to write a very active blog including all kinds of great info...check it out for yourself!
We asked Susan to share a little background about herself and her blog...
Tell us a little bit about yourself, your home and your family.
We are a homeschool family! This is our 4th year. I have identical twin teen girls (Naomi and Anna) who are almost 16. They just started driving in February. No one prepares you for this when they are born. I didn't realize the stress of having two teen drivers adds to your life! LOL
They are really great girls and I'm proud of all that they do. They are very different. A fact that people can't get over since they are identical. I have one other girl, just turned 11 (Emily). She is a joy in the kitchen and my assistant chef. Check out my blog post about her cooking in the kitchen!
My husband and I will celebrate 17 years of marriage this year! We met in college. He is a Pastor and has been the only guy in the house until right before Christmas. A kitty, Aslan, decided to make himself at home during our Christmas Open House. He came in and everyone thought that he was our cat. He never left.
What or who originally inspired you to start blogging?
I randomly signed up for a blog a few years ago. I had no clue what it was or what I was supposed to do with it. Occasionally I'd post a recipe. In February of 2009, I signed up for Twitter and caught on to Twitter parties, which led to checking out blogs.
Twitter Moms and Resourceful Mommy blogs inspired me to make a really fun blog! I was thrilled to find out that PR companies had goodies to be won and products for you to review! So I now consider blogging a hobby. I blog about homeschooling, books, music, recipes, cookbooks, healthy family, coffee and coffee products, etc.
Would you say that writing is your passion or does your TRUE passion lie somewhere else?
My true passion is cooking! I love making people happy with cooking. I love collecting recipes, tweaking them and sharing them with others. I have to make snacks for my girls' friends all the time.
I'm not a natural at writing but I feel that I'm getting better at it. I'm learning that if you write about what you like it is much easier to do.

As a mom of three girls, we know you must be a whiz in the kitchen. Care to share a favorite family recipe?
Thanks - as I said, I love cooking! My most-requested recipe is Pastor Brownies, because I make them for about every potluck my husband (the Pastor) and I attend!
And another one we're big fans of...
Buffalo
Chicken Sandwiches
1 large onion, chopped
6
stalks celery, chopped
2 to 3 T. extra-virgin olive oil
6 chicken breasts, flattened to one-inch thick
1/2 c. flour
1 bottle buffalo wing sauce
6 soft buns
Ranch or Blue Cheese dressing (I use both)
Blue cheese
crumbles
Add onion and celery with oil to pan; cook over medium heat. While veggies are cooking, dredge flattened chicken in flour; add to pan on top of onion and celery. Cook and
then flip chicken after 5 minutes. After another 5 minutes of cooking, add hot
sauce to the pan. Let cook on medium heat for another 5 to 7 minutes. Serve
chicken with veggies on buns. Top with dressing and blue cheese crumbles. So yummy!

Tell us something that no one would ever guess about you.
I have several secrets! LOL I would love to have the ability and drive to write books! I have a lot of ideas for novels. I almost wish I could give my ideas to someone and help them write down my ideas and stories.
Another funny that I don't talk much about, not that I'm embarassed, but I'm a closet Young and Restless Fan. I've been watching them for at least 30 years. Oh yes as a little kid I was allowed to watch them! I don't let my kids watch them. I TiVo them and watch them in my free time!
What a great secret! Thanks for sharing with us today...keep up the great work on your blog. We'll be back often to see what kinds of goodies you're sharing!
