My first sewing project was a coat for my Barbie doll. It was made from scraps left over when my grandmother made a coat for me. It was made using a doll-size sewing pattern and with my grandmother's advice. That led to a lifetime of sewing clothes and crafts. And I learned to sew on a treadle sewing machine---how many people can say that any more? It now sits on display in my living room, still filled with my grandmother's sewing treasures.
