Sloppy Joes, Catheryn Dottavio, Massillon, OH
3 lbs. lean ground beef
3/4 c. onion, chopped
3/4 c. green pepper, chopped
2 10-3/4 oz. cans tomato soup
1/2 c. water
1 c. catsup
3 T. brown sugar, packed
3 T. Worcestershire sauce
3 T. cider vinegar
1 T. mustard
salt and pepper to taste
24 to 36 sandwich buns, split
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown beef with onion and green pepper; drain. Stir in remaining ingredients except buns; mix thoroughly. Transfer to a lightly greased 3-quart casserole dish. Bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees for one hour. To serve, spoon onto buns. Makes 2 to 3 dozen sandwiches.
